Valeo is a major French supplier in the automotive industry with a rich history dating back to 1923. Founded in Saint-Ouen, near Paris, under the name Société Anonyme Française du Ferodo, the company began producing brake pads under license from the British manufacturer Ferodo. From the 1930s onward, Valeo continuously expanded its product portfolio to include clutches, braking systems, thermal systems, lighting, and electrical components. In 1980, the name was changed to Valeo, which means “I am well” in Latin — a fitting name for a company dedicated to mobility and road safety.
Since the 1960s, Valeo has expanded internationally with locations worldwide, including Brazil, the United States, China, and India. Through strategic acquisitions such as Peiker, Spheros, and FTE Automotive, Valeo has strengthened its position as a global leader. The company is renowned for its innovative technologies focused on electrification, autonomous driving assistance systems, and sustainable mobility. With its strategic plan “Move Up,” Valeo is heavily investing in technological development and financial growth, while aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050 and a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions before 2030.
Valeo plays a key role in the transformation toward cleaner, safer, and more advanced vehicles and remains an important supplier of innovative automotive parts for both manufacturers and the aftermarket.
